Dinah’s Coffee Chat 2/20/21

If we were having coffee….

Welcome my friend! How are you? I’m so glad you stopped by to say hello. Grab a cup of something you love and get comfy… in preparation for our transition to the keto way of life, my husband made a batch of chocolate chip cookies… One last hurrah… Please help yourself to one or two or five! He really makes THE BEST chocolate chip cookies!

If we were having coffee, I would enjoy sharing this bright sunny day with you. We’ve just had a week or two of frigid, and in my humble opinion…completely unacceptable, temperatures! So for today to be 20° with bright sunshine….that, along with your company are wonderful!

This is how I’m feeling today!

I would have to admit to you that I am feeling really tired today for some reason. So I think I would want you to do most of the talking and I would be a good, quiet listener. And… If you didn’t have a lot to say, that would be alright. I’ve learned to be OK with silence. And I’ve learned to be comfortable with silence between two people… We can enjoy each other’s company even if we don’t talk constantly.

Perhaps long silences between friends are an indication of a good, stable friendship. When you know each other well enough to not force conversation, that’s a gift….don’t you agree?

So if we were having coffee… I would be grateful for your conversation and for just the honor of your presence.

I would remember to tell you that I did start Wisdom Wednesday. If you’re interested in it, you can read it here…. This week I talked briefly about mindfulness. Tune in this coming Wednesday. I plan to share a story about mindfulness as it related to a coworker many years ago.

I’m sure, at some point, the conversation would get around to some of the events of the week. Many of our friends and family in Southern states here in the US are in very difficult situations. The frigid temperatures have caused people to go without heat, food, and potable water. Now that it is starting to warm up, many are dealing with the extreme damage from burst pipes. Let’s all keep them in our thoughts and prayers. And, if you have the ability to donate, please find an organization that you trust and help in whatever way that you can… We have to remember that we are all members of the human family… When any one of us are suffering, we are all suffering… and if you know of a good organization that is doing supportive work in the southern states, feel free to add it to the comments below.

If you have anything else you care to share… Please feel free to do so in the comments.

I hope you have a wonderful, restful weekend. And I hope the week ahead is lovely for you…

I’m really glad you’re here.💜

The weekend coffee sure is hosted by Natalie . And you can find more coffee shares here

Nothing like the purr of a happy cat to bring one’s blood pressure down! I always had a cat around, but I developed an allergy to cats as I got older. Bummer. Both of my daughters have cats, so I get a few soft pets in here and there.

Someone said February is the longest month of the year, and I agree. Spring is teasingly around the corner, but first we need to get through winter. Not easy.

This week I get my second Covid shot and will feel a little safer in the big, bad, scary world.

I had one piece of chocolate for Valentines Day, and I swear I gained 5 lbs.

And so it goes, dealing with the world from the view of 77 years.

Time for a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

      Yes, cats can be soothing!

So glad you’re well and warm….let me know how you do with the vaccine! Any reactions?

      Spring is closer every day!
Yay! -Have a wonderful week 💜🙏💜

  2. I’m ready for spring to come, though here in the PNW that just means more rain than we had during the winter. BUT it is what makes our states a beautiful green, so I won’t complain…too much. We did have a weekend of hard snow and it took close to a week to melt. I loved but I’m done with it now. My daughter and son in law live in Ft. Worth (just moved there last august), so crazy that weather. Thankfully when they lost power they were able to go stay with his brother and family until their power came back on.

My hubby’s company (a restoration company) may head to Texas this week to help out from damages due to water damage.

  3. Hi Dinah. I’m so sorry to be so late getting around to visit from the weekend. I think this is the latest I’ve ever been — but, I have a pretty good excuse. I was writing a new story and love how it came out. You may have heard me say that I love to read and write conversations and that’s what I produced this last weekend. It’s only about 2700 words, so what, about 12-13 minutes to read, and, no. I’m not going to layout the story here, I’d only risk ruining part of it should you yield to my hopes that you’ll give it a read. I will say that it’s a feel-good conversation with twists.

Now, about sitting silently with friends. It’s funny you raised this because I’m very much like this but only when I know the nearly silent friend is comfortable doing it too. Most of the friends in my life have been much less comfortable with quiet than me and I pick up on it and struggle to keep up a conversation that must feel forced. About some topics and with some people, I could hog up much more than my fair share of words, but I’m happier normally just having the people I love nearby and not needing to say anything.
I agree with you thought that doing it is a sign of a good friendship because it pretty much depends on both knowing the other is happy and comfortable just enjoying the combination of each other’s presence and any off or on sharing of easy thoughts and whims.
    Thanks for the visit.
    Blessings.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Gary! I’m embarrassingly behind in visiting coffee friends so no need to apologize!
Congratulations on your new story. I’ll try to read it this week.
