Today is an uneven kind of day
The temperature is warm
But the wind is too focused on announcing winter
The wind doesn’t care about prolonging our warmth
My mind wants to be out in the sun
Defying the wind would be a worthy pastime
But my body is too consumed by the sleep it didn’t get
My body doesn’t have any interest in my mind being in charge
It’s just that kind of day
So I sit and watch the grass collect the falling leaves
An ever changing kaleidoscope
Today may be a bit jagged
But jagged can still be
-Something
I think I’ll put today in my pocket
So that tomorrow can have its own opinion

Nice piece of writing, Dinah. I love the lines, “I think I’ll put today in my pocket
So that tomorrow can have its own opinion.” They made me smile.

Oooh, we had the exact same type of weather today. I LOVE how you describe it: ‘the wind is too focused on announcing winter’ – beautiful! And I adore how you ended it ‘so that tomorrow can have its own opinion’, absolutely gorgeous. The photo is really lovely too – if you get to walk to that view often you are a very lucky person!!
