Welcome to Nanopoblano’23! This is a yearly blogging challenge that happens every November and is hosted by Ra Avis Please consider visiting her blog frequently. You’ll be glad you did.
During this month, those of us that join the challenge, commit to blogging every day for 30 days. It’s a tall order, but very worth while.
I have neglected my blog space this year. I could list several reasons/excuses. None of them really matter that much. It all comes down to me not prioritizing my writing.
In September I attended a really wonderful writers workshop hosted by A Writing Room. I was hoping to get something from it that would motivate me to return to writing. I attended virtually. It was better than I could have imagined! The speaker lineup was stellar! Anne Lamott was first. Her message was simple… STOP NOT WRITING! Great advice, but not as easy as one would think….
The other big names were Julia Cameron, and SARK. Of course, both of them are brilliant. And Julia Cameron was hilarious.
The speaker that had the largest impact on me that weekend, however, was someone that I had never heard of. Her name is Lauren Sapala . And she specializes in working with creatives and offering courses for intuitive, creative people… Especially those that have difficulty actually doing what they want to create.
She said something in her presentation that was revelatory for me. She talked about procrastination… (I’m a champion procrastinator!) She said that procrastination is actually a trauma response… I was stunned! I’ll do another, more in-depth post about procrastination and trauma this month. For now, if you’re a procrastinator or if you love someone who is….just let this new information sink in💜
I hope you’ll join me this month as I try to post daily… It would be great to have some discussions in the comments section about anything that is of interest as you read…
Let’s make the month of November something to remember… By exploring thoughts and feelings about living and loving and learning from each other.
Hoping that all of your tomorrows are full of everything that you need, and that they include many things that you want.
I’m glad you’re here💜

Love the advice you shared from your writing workshop – stop not writing!!! I should put that on my fridge as a daily reminder haha! Very interesting that procrastination is a trauma response, I am really curious as to what that entails.
