I was the youngest of four
I had three older brothers
I always wanted a sister
Family was always a challenging subject for me
I was the one that didn’t fit
Ever
We were the proverbial rock and hard place meeting and refusing to yield
As strange as it may sound….I’m actually proud of that
I didn’t compromise myself to gain approval
I decided very early to let them be and just create my own family
So I did
I have stitched together this beautiful quilt of people that I love
They stretch across miles and states and even countries
Tina has been my friend since we were nine years old. She’s the one who remembers all the original players in my life…and I remember all of hers. She’s my longest sister….my family
Lisa was my high school sister and remains my “if you ever need…” anything family. We don’t see each other often but we’d lay down in traffic for each other. We’re family.
Sara is my college sister. We were known as “the clones” because we were practically inseparable. We still get together monthly. She’s forever in my heart and is my family.
Les is my person. Our communication isn’t as regular as it used to be. But whether we’re talking often or not, we’re always communicating through our heart connection. We helped each other through some painful years….she’s my family.
Mary and I went through our divorces together. We were devastated and helped each other hang on. We’ve sometimes gone years without talking but she’ll always be my family.
I could go on and on
There are so many more beautiful women who taught me so much about art and love and healing and love and joy and love
This mosaic of women taught me about how to love and about how to care for love
The fact that there are too many open hearted sisters for me to mention here means that I am truly lucky.
I just told my daughter-in-law that I had always wanted a sister!
Today I remembered that I have dozens of sisters and they’re stretched across the globe.
How lucky am I!!
I’m glad you’re here💜
