Body Talk – Day 14/30

Some days I can barely stand to be
in my body
There was no break up
I don’t know why we stopped speaking

My friend also has a body that
plays hide and seek with her
We talk about this
Sometimes

Our bodies pendulum
Without our consent
We feel the tick tock of
Function / Nonfunction
Function / Nonfunction

How do you keep up with
Body timing when there are no hands
Only pendulum clicks

My dad and brother restored antique clocks
They always listened for the
wobble in the ticking and tocking
They could read the hiccups and know where to bandaid the problem

I’ve looked for this kind of fixer
But no one has ever been able to interpret the complaining that my body makes
deep within itself

My friend tells me
She whispers love
To every cell
She swears it’s medicine
She kisses each muscle and organ with gratitude

I’ve tried irritation
And angst
Maybe it’s time to
Try love
