Dinah’s Coffee Chat…Day 15/30

Hello

Thanks for stopping by for our Friday coffee chat.

If we were having coffee, I would be so very happy to spend time with you.

I would want to hear how your life is going and what you’re looking forward to. I would want to know what’s making you happy these days. We all need something to be happy about and something to look forward to.

What are you looking forward to?

As for me… I guess I’m preparing for winter. This season is always a challenging time for me. My tendency is to spend most of the winter counting the days until spring… But every year, I promise myself to try and do better… To try to dread it less… And actually do a better job of thriving during winter.

With that goal in mind, I have some really good books to look forward to. I have also paid for a couple of self-paced meditation courses that I intend to complete. I’m really looking forward to those.

Both my husband and I are considering getting Gaia TV for the winter. It’s a streaming service that has shows and documentaries about more metaphysical phenomenon… I love all of that!

Additionally, I’ve been involved in a round of physical therapy. I had Covid in April and I feel like I haven’t regained all of the ground that I lost then. The therapist has actually developed a routine that I don’t loathe! This is groundbreaking! Because of my disability, I’ve been in and out of physical therapy for most of my life… Trying to maintain my strength. And just about every time, I’m bored senseless by the exercises they give me. But this time has been different! For the first time ever, I’m enjoying the exercises… So I hope to be able to keep them up all winter.

Exercise is not as challenging during the rest of the year because I really enjoy my e-bike. We have a neighbor that rides his bike all winter long. But I confess to just not being that tough! I wish I were.

What do you do for exercise during the colder months of the year?

Whatever is going on in your life right now, I hope you’re well. And I hope that you do have things that you’re looking forward to.

Wishing you a weekend full of rest with some laughter mixed in. And I truly hope that you have everything that you need… And many things that you want…

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I’m glad you’re here💜

  1. Hi Dinah,
I’m so glad to know you are enjoying your exercises and headed into winter with a good plan for your meditation and to feed your soul.
That e-bike sounds fun, too. It can wait for next season!

I am looking forward to my dad coming to visit tonight for two whole weeks. It will be an adjustment but I haven’t seen him for a long time. I’m also looking forward to our kitchen being done and my in-laws coming to visit around Christmas.🎄

    Happy Peppering!

I’m sorry you aren’t completely back from the last Covid bout but I truly believe your PT exercises sound good and it’s a new beginning there. Hugs!

    1. Ohhhh Ka, that’s so great about your dad! That’s a good amount of time to enjoy each other. I’m really happy for you! I hope you have beautiful weather and lots of time to just bask in each other’s company.
By the way… The exercise that I’m really enjoying is doing different balancing things on a huge Beachball kind of thing… It’s challenging and sometimes hysterically funny!
      Sending love 💜

    1. We have been pretty lucky here as well. Our temperatures are also still pretty mild… Not quite biking weather but very close! Thanks for stopping by Natalie. I hope you have a great weeke.

  2. Happy Saturday, Dinah.

My husband just bought an exercise bike. So, this winter I plan to use it a few times. Typically, I do exercise videos in the basement, things like Yoga, Piyo, and Pilates. I wouldn’t mind trying snowshoeing but I don’t enjoy being cold.

    Thanks for the virtual coffee.

    1. Sounds like you have a great exercise routine. The thing that I have been enjoying the most lately is doing balancing exercises on a huge beach ball. It’s so different from the boring stuff I’ve done all my life! I have an exercycle as well… And I’ve been doing that for years and years. But it’s not much fun.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a really great weekend 💜

  3. I’m glad to read that you now have a physical therapy routine that you accept. I think part of it is advocating for yourself and your physical therapist working with you. I hated the arm bike and needed – knowingly suffer for 10 min. before the real work begins.

What I do to stay warm in the winter? I shiver. I light a scented candle in a small room while I work. If the sun is out, I take a brisk walk, like I’m trying to lose the person who is following me.

What I look forward to? Going back to my normal routine.

    Thanks for a delightful post.
