Love listing

I heard her read… The more stuff you love, the happier you’ll be!

That sentence gripped me at the heart. The truth of it sunk deeply into my body.

Brilliant, I thought!

So simple and yet so deeply true.

My brain immediately started to list the things that I love…

Morning sunshine
Quiet summer rain
Lake Michigan in all of her moodiness
The way most dogs are sure of immediate and forever friendship
The sound of someone’s voice when they respond to you, and you know that they absolutely understand

As I list all these things, I feel my body relax. I feel the tension drain from my mind and heart.

They say that love is the answer to every question.

It occurs to me now that love is also probably the medicine for every ailment.

My friend Nancy tells me frequently about how she sends love to her body to heal the things that are challenging. I understand her intellectually. But not deeply… Not practically.

Until this moment

If listing the things that I love can release tension, what more could I do by manifesting more love in every moment? What could I heal? What could I create? Who might I help simply by offering love either verbally or not?

Now I hope to engrave this moment into my brain, my memory, my psyche…

Whenever I am restless or worrying or feeling unwell or uncertain I hope to return to this moment and start by thinking of the things that I love and move on from there!
