Life’s circumstances have caused me to expand my definition of family. And this expansion has been so beneficial. My family of choice seems to grow more every year. I love that!
Our immediate family is pretty small…..

My husband has a very quick wit and makes us all laugh a lot!

We often go and visit family. And when we do, we always bring food. So much of family interaction revolves around food… Doesn’t it?

It’s really nice when family members can be together and still do their own thing.

We absolutely love it when the little ones come to visit. This year, we had triplets in the family! They visited often over the summer, and we loved watching them grow up!

And, of course, the babies have us so trained. They pretty much know that they can get away with anything at our house… Including eating whatever they want! Babies were meant to be spoiled.

Sometimes big groups of extended family come to visit. And that’s great… There’s always enough food to go around.

Sometimes individuals can be a little showy. But showing off never hurt anyone… And everyone gets to be who they are.

Some family members are very artistic. They don’t say much, but beauty follows them! And, of course, we love sharing in that beauty.

Some family members are quite stoic. We love their gentle strength.

Some in our family are so, so busy! They are on the move all day every day. Their visits never last for long. We’re just grateful to see them whenever they stop by.

Life has taught me that family is who you choose to love. And the more you love, the bigger your family gets. We love to see them come and we bless them when they leave… Always hoping that we’ll see each other again soon.

These are just some of our family photos. Have you considered expanding your family?
I’m glad you’re here!💜

It was great getting to meet your extended family members. And, yes, we have a few too. We mostly have resident squirrels, butterflies, cardinals, lizards and an occasional blue bird and quite often wood peckers. My 91-year-old husband spends many hours on our lanai simply observing the habits of our entertaining friends. His binoculars are always at the ready so he can watch them up close and personal in their natural habitat (i.e., our backyard). Another good blog, Dinah, and the pictures were beyond interesting. Thanks for sharing!

These are great. I think I need to somehow get a “family” photo with my fish for Christmas cards 😂

That’s a fun idea! I love it. If you do, I really want to see it!
My family of origin is gone, all passed. And we weren’t very close even when they were around. So changing my thoughts on family was important.
Good luck with that picture 💜

Stunning photos, Dinah. You really capture the ‘place’ – almost can feel it just by looking at the photo. My favourites were the the last (two birds flying so close together) and the lace cap hydrangea.

Thank you! I have a coordination impairment. So, when I want to take a picture of something… Like the birds at the lake, I will snap 10 to 20 pictures. Then, when I get home, I’ll look at them. Sometimes I get really lucky and I can zoom in on something like the seagulls and it turns out pretty well. It always feels like a gift when I get a good one!
And that hydrangea is one of my favorite plants!!🥰
Thanks so much for visiting. 💜🙏💜
