I am a boomerang
I almost always come back
Perhaps this is my own personal Right of Return
We were young and married and forgot that love can only flourish where appreciation dwells
We ended our story
And then returned 2 years later and rebuilt everything
Starting with ourselves
Boomerang
I worked a job for ten years
I wanted more…leigh way, creativity, expansion
I accepted a new job with sky high promises of growth and potential
But I hadn’t noticed the duplicity just under the surface
I started the new job and the walls started moving inward
Creative thought would not be tolerated!
So I returned to the old job, grateful to reach year eleven
Boomerang
I had three brothers
One of them liked me when he was sober and detested me when he wasn’t
The verbal attacks worsened until I walked away, refusing to engage with the person he was never meant to be
And then, for a brief time, he seemed to remember who he was and the venom left his voice
So I returned
Two months before he died
Boomerang
I came here from love and light
From starshine and moon dust where laughter is air
I feel this place in the memory of my own laughing
And someday I’ll return
Boomerang
I’m glad you’re here 💜

Thank you. I have a feeling I’m breaking the rules by posting old stuff. My husband is visiting from FL (we’re on opposite sides of the country), so writing time is hard to come by. But I’ll be back at it starting on Monday.

This is wonderful. While life is all about change, I love the concept of thinking that it is also like a boomerang – things are not always lost, they can come back to us. The bit about your brother seared me deepest – I relate, somewhat, with my own brother, who does not drink, but detests me for some reason lol. But I like the hope and redemption in your words. We go to and fro, changing, always, but we return.

I’m sorry you deal with the brother thing too. Please remember that it’s his issue, not yours! I know that I beat myself up for years trying to figure out what I did to make him dislike me so. And then I realized that alcohol seemed to be the thing that made the difference.
As for returning….it’s a major theme in my life. We even sold our home, moved to a town 2 hours away and then moved back and rebought the house 2 years later….weird right?
Thanks for visiting and reading my friend

That is definitely interesting, that you even returned to your old home. I often hear of people having a particular ‘theme’ in their lives, yours being ‘return’. I have no idea what mine may be lol. Maybe time will tell 🙂 I hope you stay well my friend!
